Congratulations to The SOLA Group on reaching financial close on their Hybrid Solar and Battery Project, a 300 MW solar PV facility with 660 MWh of battery energy storage! This project is a key step forward in setting a new benchmark for firm renewable energy at scale.
For Air Liquide South Africa this is a big leap toward our decarbonization goals. The conclusion of this latest #PPA brings our total secured renewable capacity signed with our long-term partner, Sasol to nearly 1 GW, with about 100 MW of renewable energy already online and contributing to the grid.
We are proud that with this new PPA, Air Liquide’s allocation increases to 460 MW, surpassing our original projections and bringing our total expected CO2 emission reductions to 1.4 million tonnes per year. This demonstrates our commitment to decrease emissions at the #Secunda site by 30% to 40% by 2031. By decarbonizing the world’s largest oxygen production site, we are not only reducing our own footprint but also actively contributing to South Africa’s energy transition.
